He has graduated from the most prestigious Government Ayurveda College, Thiruvana- nthapuram.

He completed his Post graduation in the specialty of Kaumarabhritya from the renowned Gujarat Ayurveda University, Jamnagar with flying colors.

He is the Professor and Head of the Department of Kaumarabhritya in Government Ayurveda College, Thiruvananthapuram.

He is the Editor in chief of the acclaimed journal ‘SAISAVAM’ which exclusively deals with the care of the children.

He has been the guide for 15 research postgraduate theses.
                       
Research
He has been the Guide in conducting various research theses of which five have been completed successfully.

• A Randomised controlled trial on the efficacy of Vrisha Ghrita on Tamaka Swasa – with special reference to Bronchial asthma in children up to 12 years.

• A Study on the clinical effectiveness of a Programme based on simulation technique of computer in identification and differential diagnosis of Visarpa in children.

• A Study on the prevalence of vitiated breast milk ( Dushta Stanya) and efficacy of Patadi gana kashaya in purification of Breast milk ( Stanya sodhanam) and prevention of associated disorders in breast fed infants.

• Efficacy of Dhanwantaram Thailam as Siropichu in reducing the spasticity of Sahaja Jadatwam with special reference to Cerebral Palsy in children up to the age 8 years – A Randomised controlled trial

• A Randomized controlled trial on the efficacy of Mahamasha thailam as Siropichu in Badhirya with special reference to sensori neural deafness of Children up to 12 years.

There are 5 ongoing research works under the guidance of Dr.Ramachandran. They are the following

• Randomized controlled trial to evaluate the efficacy of Vidangarajanyadi yoga in Pureeshaja Krimi with special reference to Ascaris lumbricoides in children

• A randomized controlled study on the effect of Kooshmanda Avaleha in preschool children

• Randomized controlled trial in the efficacy of Vyoshadi ghrita in Pandu in children (with special reference to Iron Deficiency Anemia)

• Randomized controlled trial on the efficacy of Gorochanadi kahaya in certain childhood skin manifestations with special reference to kapha pitha predominance

• A study on the efficacy of Priyala majjadi yoga in the growth and development of children during complementary feeding.


• The research works under scrutiny for registration are on ADHD, Cerebral Palsy, Primary Complex and Recurrent Tonsilities

Social welfare

He has achieved the prime position in Kerala for the welfare of children with disability due to developmental disorders.

He has led many camps conducted to screen the growth and development of children in various parts of the state.

He is the Secretary of the WARD – Welfare Association for the Rehabilitation of Differentially abled, a charitable association which is concerned with the well being of the physically and mentally challenged children.

He is currently conducting various Child nutrition projects in the coastal belt of Thiruvan-anthapuram.
